About Khao Wealth
Where Thoughtful Study
Meets Real Financial Life
Khao Wealth was founded on a simple belief: adults in mid-career and approaching retirement deserve financial education that respects their intelligence and addresses their actual circumstances.
← Back to HomeHow Khao Wealth Began
Khao Wealth grew out of a recurring observation: many working adults in Thailand who had been employed for fifteen or twenty years could not explain what their provident fund statement actually showed. Not because they lacked the capacity to understand — but because no one had ever sat down with them to walk through it.
The idea was to create a study environment rather than a sales environment. A place where someone approaching their 40s or 50s could examine the mathematics of their own financial life — their saving rate, their fund allocation, their family's healthcare needs — without being handed a product at the end of the conversation.
The name Khao Wealth refers to the word for rice in Thai — a staple that sustains, that accumulates slowly, that forms the basis of daily life. Financial literacy, we believe, should work the same way: cultivated steadily, taken seriously, and kept close to real life rather than abstracted into speculation.
Since opening in Khon Kaen, we have worked with employees from a range of sectors across the Northeast — from civil servants and teachers to small business owners and healthcare workers. The sessions are deliberately small. The discussions are frank. The workbooks go home with participants rather than being left in a folder on a shelf.
What We Stand For
Clarity Over Complexity
Financial concepts need not be wrapped in jargon to be credible. Our role is to make the real structure of things visible and navigable.
No Conflicts of Interest
We do not sell financial products. We receive no commissions. Our only obligation is to help participants understand their own situations.
Grounded in Thailand
We draw on Thai regulatory structures, Thai historical data, and the social realities of families living and working in Thailand — not imported frameworks that do not fit.
The People Behind the Workshops
Our facilitators come from backgrounds in adult education, public finance, and healthcare administration. None hold positions in financial product sales.
Somchai Kittipong
Lead Facilitator — Provident Fund & Compounding
Formerly a financial analyst in Bangkok, Somchai spent a decade working within Thai state enterprise fund structures before moving to adult education. He leads the provident fund and compounding workshops.
Nanthida Prayoon
Facilitator — Health, Wealth & Family Planning
With a background in public health administration and community development in Khon Kaen, Nanthida facilitates the weekend workshop on health, wealth, and family conversations.
Wanchai Charoenwong
Programme Coordinator
Wanchai handles enquiries, scheduling, and participant support. He is your first point of contact and happy to talk through which workshop might be the most relevant fit for your situation.
How We Work
Privacy as Standard
Participants are never required to share personal financial figures. Statement exercises use redacted or sample documents. No personal data is shared with third parties.
Regulatory Accuracy
Workshop content is reviewed against current Thai SEC, Social Security, and Office of Insurance Commission documentation on an annual basis to reflect changes in regulation.
Adult Learning Methods
Facilitators apply structured adult learning frameworks. Sessions are participatory rather than lecture-based, with time allocated for participant questions throughout.
No Product Promotion
No financial product is promoted in any workshop session. Facilitators do not receive referral fees and have no commercial relationship with any fund manager, insurer, or broker.
Small Group Format
Groups are capped at 14 participants to allow for meaningful discussion, adequate question time, and a comfortable study environment rather than a crowded seminar.
Printed Materials Included
Each workshop includes a printed reference document — a worksheet or workbook — that participants keep after the session and can return to in future years.
Financial Education That Fits Thai Working Life
The provident fund system in Thailand operates differently from retirement structures in other countries. Understanding what a fund-of-fund allocation means, how employer and employee contributions interact, and what happens to accumulated savings when an employment relationship ends — these are practical matters that affect the financial security of millions of Thai workers, and they are rarely explained in plain terms.
Khao Wealth workshops are built around the actual documents that participants hold: their annual fund statements, their Social Security records, their supplementary insurance summaries. We move from the specific to the general — from a participant's own numbers to the broader structures those numbers sit within.
The compounding programme draws on data from the Thai capital market and from regional markets, not from theoretical projections. Participants learn to work with realistic saving rates and realistic time horizons — including the often-overlooked effect of small adjustments made consistently over a decade or more.
The health and wealth workshop addresses a gap that few financial education programmes have historically considered: the financial dimension of healthcare decisions, and the quiet conversations within families about long-term care for ageing parents. In Thailand, where family structures carry significant financial weight, these conversations matter.
We work with adults across a range of employment situations — those with formal provident fund membership, those with Social Security only, and those who are self-employed or in informal employment. Wherever you are in that picture, the arithmetic of long-term financial planning applies.
